Youth Behavioral Health Specialist
Job Summary:
Join Happy Acres Children’s Home (HACH)—Helping Achieve, Create, and bring Happiness. We are a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) committed to providing structured, trauma-informed care for children and youth who have experienced significant abuse, neglect, and emotional hardship.
HACH is not a medical facility, not a special needs home, and not a traditional childcare setting. We are a specialized, trauma-informed level of care for youth with serious emotional and behavioral challenges who cannot safely or successfully be served in a foster home. As a goal-oriented residential treatment program, we focus on helping youth build emotional regulation, social skills, and daily living abilities. Our goal is to prepare them for a successful transition into a stable home environment—whether that be with family, in foster care, or through independent living.
This role requires emotional strength, consistency, and the ability to stay grounded during high-stress situations. We are looking for compassionate, committed individuals who can provide structure, connection, and therapeutic support to help our youth grow and succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure maintenance of a clean, safe, and healthy living environment, including routine cleaning and meal preparation.
- Serve as a positive role model while providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to residents.
- Use Microsoft Office applications proficiently for documentation, including completion of SOAP notes.
- Assist with medication administration as required.
- Adhere to established daily schedules and programming.
- Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Safely transport residents to appointments and community outings.
- Supervise up to 6-8 youth (ages 8–17) in a structured, 24/7 group home environment.
- Build therapeutic relationships through trust, consistency, and unconditional positive regard.
- Support youth with daily living skills including hygiene, meal prep, chores, school routines, and emotional regulation.
- Manage and de-escalate behavioral crises using trauma-informed, agency-approved techniques.
- Collaborate with treatment team members to meet individualized treatment plans.
- Participate in regular trainings, shift briefings, and team meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Arizona driver’s license with a clean 5-year driving record.
- Clean drug test and current physical exam.
- CPR/First Aid certification and Prevention and Support Training.
- Training in trauma-informed care.
- Therapeutic knowledge and prior experience as a behavioral health technician.
- Minimum 2 years behavioral health experience required.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office for documentation.
- Able to commute to Peoria, AZ
